Middle in the Endless

The tube is made of plexiglass with an aluminum framework, and stands 20 meters long, with a diameter of 260 centimeters. It houses an interactive sound/image system. At the far end of the tube there is a screen, and at the other end there is a mirror.

Inside the tube there is a restless atmosphere of flashing images and sound bites. When the viewer steps in, the program is given new input. If the viewer moves, the system will read that and respond in real time. Subject and work are in a reciprocal relationship: stimulus and response.

The tube is not a passage connecting 'here' and 'there.' The viewer steps in and stands before a screen, situated at the far end of the tube. The computerized graphics on the screen depict an endless tunnel. Behind the viewer, a mirror reflects these images. There is no entrance or exit. The viewer stands in the middle of an infinite distance.

Middle in the Endless was the title works of Etat solo exhibition at IT Park gallery in 2002.
